High quality classic wine barrels with capacities of 100L for wine or whisky storage are handmade using the traditional techniques of the Coopers over many generations. This Wine Barrel are made from European white oak seasoned under natural conditions for at least 2 years, however certain wood remain therefor 3-4 years. This exposure to the rain, wind and sun helps to reduce green tannins. Every barrel has 6 steel hoops painted black - and is complete with a wooden stand and bung. The barrel's staves are fire-bent and are burned out from the inside with varying degrees of intensity (gentle, mild, strong etc). |

The barrel's staves are fire-bent and are burned out from the inside with varying degrees of intensity (gentle, mild, strong etc). For all our barrels we are using only traditional metode tosting over an open fire, and when pliable are bent into the shape of the desired barrel and held together with iron rings. Instead of fire, a cooper may use steam to heat up the staves but this tends to impart less "toastiness" and complexity to the resulting wine. |
